I was looking for hiking boots to go climbing with my boyfriend up some mountians. I previously had other adventure sneakers, but thoes didn't have high enough ankle support for all the unstable footing of the mountians, so I was in search for something more substantial. I went to the EMS store and conversed with the Foot Guru. He recommended these amazing boots for me. I tried them on in the store, hiked up their slanted steps and found them to have great ankle support. The way it laces up provides a lot of added stability. The Foot Guru even showed me a way to tie the laces at the top so it doesn't come untied! It also has lots of padding and I think is water resistant. I have hiked a few mountians in them and they are extremely stable. They are able to keep your foot aligned with your legs so that you don't twist your ankle. It it very breathable, and my feet don't get sweaty inside them. These are the BEST hiking boots I have ever had and I highly reccommend them to anyone!

I'm so sad because they were stolen out of my trunk this past winter. :( I don't know what I'm going to do for hiking this summer.

My Review of SMARTWOOL Women's Midweight Bottoms

Originally submitted at Eastern Mountain Sports

The Midweight Bottoms are made from SmartWool's heaviest NTS fabric. Warm, yet still breathable for stop-and-go activities, they're ideal for cold weather.

These are awesome!

Pros: Warm, Non-itchy, Soft, Moisture-wicking

Best Uses: Hiking, Cold weather, Biking, First layer

I bought these pants to use while biking in the cold winter. I use it for my base layer and they are very warm and toasty! I LOVE these and wish I had bought more pairs. They are moisture-wicking and my legs are never sweaty after my bike rides. I am probably a small, but I ordered a meduim to have some flexibility and they are just perfect. I can't wait to try these out hiking in the snow or just in cold temps. NOTE: These are a base-layer and I wear a light-weight windbreaker pair of pants over them. I don't believe these are wind-resistant.
